Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet area situated in The West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" location. People unfamiliar with the term tend to think it's a separate island somewhere west of Montreal however, this part of West Island is home to everything from Lachine west to the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island. But this isn't the truth. Brugel grew up in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. She had a dream to become a dancer, however a rapid growth rate meant that she literally outgrew her dance partners. In an article from the Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. When I grew out of male companions at that point, I gave up. The Brugel is one of the former dancers who turned to acting. Her teacher from high school encouraged her in the right direction. The teacher recommended that she take part in an audition for the annual school production. After trying out the role, she was chosen as the leading lady for Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in the year 2000. In the 20+ years since, Brugel has been offered roles in more than 60 productions across both small and large screens, attracting the greatest media attention after she was offered the role in the role of Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the character Rita in The Handmaid's Tale the series filmed over ten years ago.
